Delicacies 06Raw manila clamManila clams are shellfish in the common orient clam family that live in sandy mudflat in seawater that mixes with freshwater. Manila clams are in season in March through June when ume flowers start to blossom. Manila clams grown in the ideal mudflat in the Yulpo coast rich in minerals and nutrients are rich in proteins, amino acids and glycogen.
Delicacies 07Goggle-eyed goby stewGoggle-eyed gobies, known as beef on the mudflat, are rich in taste and nutrients and are loved in Jeolla-do for stamina food. Above all, the goggle-eyed gobies caught in Beolgyo, Boseong are in best season from early summer to early winter when they fatten up. Goggle-eyed gobies, growing in the fertile mud of Beolgyo taste more intense than black goggle-eyed gobies with big head.
Delicacies 08Boseong lamb soupUnlike its name, Boseong lamb soup is made from goat meat instead of lamb. Although some people may not like goat meat's smell of fat, only the 3 - 4 year female goats are used to eliminate the smell. The spicy soup with dried taro stems and bog rhubarb stems like Yukgaejang tastes great.
Delicacies 09Octopus / Webfoot Octopus Octopus and jukkumi have long been known as good food for staminers as it is said that the nourishing effect of octopus and jukkumi is so great that even a fallen cow suddenly rises.
